Volunteering with the Maui Humane Society

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many opportunities to volunteer with the Maui Humane Society! We rely on our volunteers to help with nearly all aspects of running the shelter, from adoptions to maintenance, vet staff to vending. We also have many events and other outreach opportunities away from the shelter, such as our annual FurBall fundraiser, mobile adoptions with our Animobile, education presentations at schools and senior centers and community events like the Upcountry Fair.

MHS strives to ensure a mutually beneficial relationship between the agency and our volunteers and encourages our volunteers to help in more than one area. Though we always need volunteers, we may not need help in the area you would most like to be. We do the best we can to fulfill the requests for volunteer assignment, but you must understand we may be unable to place you in a position until there is a “vacancy”.

Front Office/Customer Service
Front Office Greeter: M, T, W, R, F, Sa, Sn 10am – 4pm
Adoptions
AKAKU Assistant: Usually every other Sa 11am – Noon
Photography Assistant: latest schedule TBD
Mobile Adoption Team: on-call, usually Sa
Animal Care
Dog Kennel Assistant: Sa, Sn 10am – 2pm or 11am - 3pm
Development/Finance Departments
Administrative Assistant:T, W, R, F, occasional Salate morning – afternoon **approx. 2 – 4 hours**
Donation Bank Manager:your schedule**especially West-side/Lahaina**
Vending Machine Manager:your schedule
Special Events:on-call
Veterinary Services Department
Data Entry:M, T, W, R, or F 1:30pm – 4pm
Wee Care Foster Program
Foster Parents:your schedule
Dog Walking Program
