The Challenge Continues!
The Maui Humane Society (MHS) is participanting in the Save More Lives - ASPCA $100K Challenge,
competing for a $100,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
Only 50 animal rescue shelters were chosen from over 700 applicants nationwide.
The ASPCA Challenge is taking place during August, September and October and will take into account any dog or cat
adoptions, pets returned to their owners and spayed/neutered feral cats returned to managed feral cat colonies. In
order to win the challenge, MHS will need to save the most lives of any other shelter participating and at least 300
more lives this year than they did in 2009 over the same period.
"This challenge is all about the community coming together to help us save lives," said Jocelyn Bouchard, CEO of MHS.
"We know there are many people that share our concerns about the plight of homeless pets. This is their chance to
get directly involved in becoming part of the solution."
It is Maui Humane Society's goal that the programs and promotions already on-going at the shelter and those
resulting from the challenge will continue to help save more lives for years to come.
